This has been a heavy week for many of us. The media is full of angst over abortion access, gun laws and ongoing hearings related to the January 6th insurrection. One part of the country is celebrating while another is grieving. Meanwhile, I’ve been needing something to lighten my spirit. Last night I watched […]
Jesus said, “The reason I speak to them in parables is that “seeing they do not perceive, and hearing they do not listen, nor do they understand.” Matthew 13:13 It is comforting to recognize that all of Jesus’ followers and friends slip. I’ve been that person who thought I knew everything about an issue, only […]
The Biblical book of Daniel tells the story of a young man, Daniel, exiled from Jerusalem when Nebuchadnezzar troops besiege the city. From early upon his arrival, he caught the eyes of those in power, as one of the young men who could be taught the customs and traditions of the land they were exiled […]
I believed Richard Nixon when he spoke to the nation on August 15, 1973 in response to the Watergate Hearings. Listening to the sincerity in his voice, I believed he was an innocent man, caught up in a scandal people under him had started. As a young stay at home mom, I was able to […]
In C.S. Lewis’s book, The Screwtape Letters, Lewis presents the correspondence between a Senior Devil . . . Screwtape and his nephew Wormwood. It is Screwtape’s role to guide the young Wormwood in his task to lead a young man away from his newfound faith in God. Through the course of the book, we find […]
“In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Even upon my slaves, both men and women,in those days I will pour out my Spirit;and they shall […]
Pictures float across my screen . . . Xavier . . . Jose . . . Nevaeh . . . Tess . . . Alexandria . . . Jacklyn . . . Jayce . . . Miranda . . . each a precious child, carrying the hopes and dreams of those who loved them. Each […]
I have always seen that Psalm as being about the Temple or tabernacle, because of what’s in the rest of the verses. But in thinking about it some more, I remember that the tabernacle and the Temple were made with God’s specifications down to the last detail. (Like the flowers He created!) The builders made it exactly as He had instructed, which was why it was so beautiful. And I believe God sees true beauty in obedient servants, whatever things large or small we do to serve Him. HE is what makes any place beautiful, and when we are in the center of His will, we are, too. ❤

Thanks for your reflection. The words popped into my mind as I was thinking of day I had spent at an Arboretum, with all the beautiful flowers and blossoms around me.

I love the way Scripture pops into our minds in unexpected but appropriate places. 🙂 ❤

Wow I like this message.
You see I think if we meditate on this powerful scripture we get a glimpse too .
I recall Jacob making a similar remark Gen 28:17
New Living Translation
But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!”
I think there are moments when you can sense the presence or His aura but you feel like its just a glimpse, then you think how excellent is actually His dwelling place.
The answer we will be looking for is, “There is more from where its coming from”
Great work!

Thanks for your reflection on this piece. I believe there are places made sacred by the prayers of God’s people. Certainly, places of joy and praise are among them.
