The Christmas Spirit

The Christmas Spirit
is that hope
which tenaciously clings
to the hearts of the faithful
and announces
in the face
of any Herod, the world can produce
and all the inn doors slammed in our faces
and all the dark nights of our souls
that with God
all things are possible,
that even now
unto us
a Child is born!

May this Christ of Christmas touch your hearts with deep hope, that with God all things are possible.   Even peace. Even now.

For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government will be upon his shoulder,
    and his name will be called
“Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Prayer:  Loving God, we yearn for peace.  A genuine peace in our world.  We yearn for peace in our souls and in our families.  May this Christmas be one of healing relationships in our families and among nations.   Help us to live as your children, working for peace.  Amen.
