Importance of a Vote

Being able to vote is the gift of a free society. With our ballots we elect people who will represent our values, our hopes and our commitments to justice and fairness.

Laws are made that impact our lives for good or for ill. School systems teach a holistic curriculum or one compromised by political agendas. The safety and care of our children and grandchildren, reside with those making decisions.

Our cities and  states work or do not work for everyone, depending upon the leaders we choose. Sitting on the outside, and claiming one’s vote doesn’t matter, is to avoid responsibility as a citizen.

In this season, when there are those trying to make voting difficult,  it is especially crucial that people of honesty and integrity are elected throughout the nation.

So vote, but research the candidates and choose those committed to telling the truth, even when it is difficult.

“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and who loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing.”                          Deuteronomy 10:17b, 18
