One of my favorite places is the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, located in Chaska Minnesota, about a 40 minute drive from my home.   Every season is a delight.   Yesterday I was both surprised and delighted to visit when  all their lilies were blooming.

I thought of Jesus and why he pointed to the lilies of  the field,   with their splendor and variety.   I wondered what lilies his eyes had fallen on that day, that caused him to compare Solomon’s finery to the lilies of the field.

But, I imagine that his words were inspired by some like these.    God’s gifts of beauty are cause for joy and delight.  I’m grateful for a creator who knew our need to rest in beauty, for our eyes to feast on colors,  and our souls to be restored as we rested there.

“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin,  yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.” Matthew 6:28-29
