God’s Lovely Dwelling Place

I wonder what image was in the Psalmist mind, when writing the words, “How Lovely is your dwelling place. O Lord Most High. ” Psalm 84:1

Was the psalm writer looking at a field of flowers, covering the hillside, marveling at the intricate work of art each petal is?

Perhaps thoughts turned from the carved wooden images of flowers in the sanctuary, to  the way God sprinkled flowers throughout the earth, for all to enjoy.

Indeed, “How lovely is God’s dwelling place,”  Created for us to rejoice in.  For God, who walks beside us,  has never been confined simply  to churches. But  continues to be revealed, in the good gifts of creation . . .  Gifts to celebrate and be grateful for.  Gifts to cherish and to protect, so those who come after us, can also celebrate these good gifts of God to us.

“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it.”  Psalm 24:1
