One Born to Be Light

I find great comfort in the Gospel writer’s words, “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

These words broke through the darkness which filled my days. A time consumed by the world’s harshness, when  I wondered if light would ever return. They came as a promise that no matter how hard and inflexible the present darkness felt, light could still penetrate. For there was one born to be light and give light to the world.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . . . All things came into being through him.” John 1:1,3    The creative power and voice of God set into motion the Christ, born as Jesus . . . Come to be a savior . . . Come with light for all people.

In that light, lives are transformed, old weights lifted . . . Hearts restored . . . spirits revived,  and in Christ’s light, our souls find rest.

Thinking back to that painful time, I now see how  Christ’s light was shining, leading me one step, one trust moment at a time.   Until I knew to be true, with the gospel writer, the Light of Christ will shine forever and no darkness will ever, not ever, overcome it.
