I wrote this prayer a number of years ago, when I was going through a period of loss.  At the time, I found myself frustrated with small stuff, instead of dealing with the reality  of loss in my life.  The prayer centered me, and reminded me to question why I was upset with a person, and how much of that was real.

Holy One, You know my heart. You know my loss and the pain of that loss. Be here in this moment to caress me with your love and peace. Let me no longer linger on imagined wrongs or small misunderstandings. Let me be open to your surprises in this day . . . Your grace sufficient for me in this moment and this time. Let me trust in your abundant and compassionate love,to get me through the grief I’m living now. Let me trust your great grasp of me today, God . . . So I can move from the pain and isolation of today, to the world that beckons and the call of your heart to me. Amen.
